17th Annual Diplomatic Seder
103 diplomats from 53 countries joined 91 lay leaders for the 17th annual Diplomatic Model Seder on Tuesday, March 20. Representatives from the governments of China, Japan, Egypt, Venezuela and Qatar were among those who learned the story of the Israelites' exodus from Mitzraim, and how, through the Seder traditions, Jews memorialize that event and reinforce the importance of freedom and tolerance for all people.

Board Members Talk with Bronx Borough President Adolfo Carrion
Bronx Borough President Adolfo Carrion met with members of the Chapter board on March 14 to discuss his past accomplishments and future goals for the Bronx, his dedication to Latino- Jewish relations, and his thoughts on citywide issues like education, housing and jobs.

Israeli Arab Leader Visits AJC
Mohammad Darawshe, director of external relations for the Abraham Fund Initiatives, visited AJC headquarters. Darawshe, in a conversation moderated by NY Chapter board member Suzi Jaffe, discussed Jewish-Arab coexistence and current trends in the Israeli Arab community. Darawshe, who lives in Iksal in the Galilee, regularly meets with AJC’s Israel staff and Project Interchange missions.
UN Watch Confronts Sudan on Darfur Genocide
Hillel Neuer, executive director of UN Watch, confronted Sudan and its allies at the UN Human Rights Council’s debate on Darfur. Addressing a packed hall of ambassadors, journalists and human rights delegates, Neuer’s address demanded the world body endorse a new report documenting the ongoing atrocities in Darfur.
